Varieties grown include:
1) Eating (dessert) apples: Gala, Egremont Russet, Cox, Jonagold
2) Cooking apples: Bramley, Crab apple
The Gala are separated into 4 orchards over 7 acres with more than 2,000 trees. They are mixed with Russet or Cox pollinators. We have over 500 Russets and 300 Cox trees in that mix. It should be noted that we are not putting all our trees into the rental scheme.
The Jonagold orchard comprises 480 trees, of which 320 are Jonagold and 160 are Russet pollinators.
The Bramley orchard contains around 500 trees spread over 1.5 acres pollinated by Crabapple (Mayliss) trees, but also gets the benefit of proximity to the Gala orchards.
All our apple trees are between 5 and 18 years old.
The apple season starts with the Bramleys at the end of August. We then harvest the Russet, Gala, and Cox, and finish with the Jonagold in late October. The harvest dates are estimates at the start of each year and will be made more precise as the year goes on.

We had a lovely morning in the peaceful orchard in the sun and the Bramleys are delicious and are storing well in the garage. The smell when you open the door is wonderful. We are having apple pie every week and it hardly needs any sugar, as you pick the apples at the right time when they are sweeter. Delicious! We are looking forward to the Jonagold tree picking shortly.

Just picked our jonagold tree. What a plethora of apples, gorgeous looking and very sweet and juicy. Thanks Mark for your hospitality and generosity this afternoon, and for providing such lovely weather for it. I’ve just signed up for Steph and myself for next year, cherries, cobnuts and two sorts of apples.
We thoroughly recommend Bentinck Farm. An opportunity not to be missed, especially if like us you’re committed to ethical sourcing of produce, supporting local producers and suppliers, and reducing as much as possible waste and packaging. And such fantastic value.
Now to figure out where we’re going to store them all.

Myself, my husband and 2 kids (1 and 4) had a great time picking the apples from our Bramley apple tree and we have SOOOO many apples, way more than I could have imagined, we have shared with so many friends and family, eaten so many crumbles, cakes and pies and still have a huge stashed well wrapped in paper which will hopefully last us a good few months still. Thorough recommend Bentinck Farm its been a great experience, they even allowed us to bring the kids to visit the tree ahead of picking. We can’t wait until next year!
